Try redownloading and repatching SMBO. It can happen at times.

Hey PhonyTube, sorry a staff member hasn't replied to this sooner. What you should try doing first is reinstalling the game. Please make sure you run the file called "RUN THIS BEFORE YOU PLAY THE GAME" and the Windows Vista and Windows 7 fix if you have either of those operating systems. If none of that works, try registering the file called dx7vb.dll. Excerpted from the Bugs & Errors List:
"How to register a file (for .dll and .ocx files): Start --> Run... --> Type in: regsvr32 filename.extension
Example: Someone wants to register a file called VBMP.ocx. He/she would type this:
regsvr32 VBMP.ocx
Remember to put the file in the system directory before registering it.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (x86 or 64-bit) users Registering files needs to be done in a different way. Instead of putting your .dll or .ocx files in the Windows/System32 folder, put them in the Windows/Syswow64 folder. Then, follow these steps to register them:
1. Open up the command prompt. To do this, click on the Windows Button, type "cmd" in the Search Bar, and hit Enter. The command window should pop up. 2. In the command window, type in the following: 3. cd c:\windows\syswow64 (Replace the "c" with the letter of your main drive. Chances are it will be the C: drive.) 4. Now press Enter. Then, type in the following: 5. regsvr32 filename.extension 6. Replace "filename" with the name of the file (ex: dx7vb) and "extension" with the file extension (ex: dll) 7. Now press Enter and click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded. 8. Repeat step 6 as many times as needed. 9. Now type in the following: 10. exit 11. Now press Enter, and you're done!"
So when you need to enter in the command to register the file, you would type this: regsvr32 dx7vb.dll
I hope that helps!

Do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system? If you have a 32-bit, make sure that you have the "dx7vb.dll" file in your "System32" folder. If you have a 64-bit operating system, check if the file is in your "SysWOW64" folder.

hmm... I don't think the server's offline unless you have the new IP with all the 70s and 80s in it. I think I checked almost every day and it didn't show up as offline

Sorry for the late reply, PhonyTube. You're getting that error because you're not running the Command Prompt using Administrator privileges. It seems you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, so please follow these steps: 1. Click on the Windows Orb (formerly the Start button) at the bottom-left of your computer screen 2. In the search box, please type in: Command Prompt3. An item called Command Prompt should appear. Please right-click on it, and then select the third option from the context menu that appears. This option is called Run as administrator. 4. In the command window, type in the following: regsvr32 dx7vb.dll5. If the file was not registered successfully, please type this in the command window: cd c:\windows\system326. Repeat step 4 7. Now press Enter and click OK on the window that comes up saying dllregserver succeeded. That should be all you need to do. If you still experience errors, please let me know. Sorry again for the late reply!

What doesn't work? Did the file register successfully? And if it didn't work, do you think you could please mention the error message that you got? It could also be that your anti-virus is preventing you from using SMBO, as that has happened to many players in the past. Try disabling it, if possible, and then running SMBO to see if that resolves the issue.
