1  Super Mario Bros. Online / Suggestions / Event Idea: Bowser Strikes! on: December 24, 2015, 08:03:56 am
Okay, so I had an idea about something that could be done event-wise, and shouldn't take too much time to do.

We all know about the maze event by now. The premise is to make it to the end without being cornered and attacked for over 9000 points of damage, and you get a bunch of event coins. Comes in two flavors: Easy, and Mamamia!

The main problem with this event is it occurs really early in the day for most people, so they end up missing it because of school, maybe they slept through it, or work early.

The second problem is more of a draw factor to the game itself, as the community has been very lax lately. The forum is on life support at this point, and most players who still play log into an empty server. And let's face it, no one wants to play an MMO alone.

My idea is to add a new event that occurs mid-afternoon to late-afternoon that has an emphasis on teamwork. It also addresses a problem within the games 'false advertisement'. To address the latter, the game was advertised as being one where Bowser is up to no good again, and it's your job to defeat him. Yet, there is a suprising lack of Bowser within the game itself.

Well, not anymore. I propose an event where Bowser attacks randomly (to save time, it could be done with a warning that he's approaching the Mushroom Kingdom, and ask if you want to intercept him, and if yes, warp to an area just outside his map, similar to the maze event) The thing about this is, Bowsers stats should be high. Very high. High enough that it requires a group of players to successfully defeat him, but not high enough that he would kill a player in 1-2 hits. Somewhere around 2000-3000 HP and some decent defense. As an easy mode, you could add Bowser Jr. with around 1000 HP.

When he's defeated, all players on the map at the time recieve coins, with the one who dealt the finishing blow receiving an extra stash, making it a competition to see who defeats him first. This serves not only as incentive to join the battle, but as a deterrence for players who join just to simply stand there and be rewarded for doing nothing.

I'm pretty sure you all might have some Bowser/Bowser Jr. sprites in your client that are currently unused, but if you don't, I can send Kimimaru some that are already formatted for Eclipse use.

But anyways, thats my idea. Leave a post and let me know your comments or concerns on this one.

I wanna enter but my wiiU has this thing where it started to hate the internet.

Nintendo did a really good job of making the wiiU's wifi completely unstable and easy to just die.

Peng, there's an adapter for the original Wii that allows you to connect to an ethernet cable line through a USB port. It's compatible with the Wii U, and I use one myself without issue, so I recommend you get yourself one if you're having wireless connection issues.

It did, thank you.

I found a topic explaining the same issue I have.

http://www.smf4free.com/forums/supermariobrosonline/index.php/topic,206.0.html

I made a test account that him and I used to see if the problem was account related. No luck. Tried reinstalling all the library installers too. No luck.

Here's a screenshot of me and Wing in-game. Level Up is displayed over both our heads on my end, but not on his.

Hydra said, in the affore mentioned topic, that it could be a registry issue. If thats the case, I'm not sure how I can fix it. I've never had this problem before when playing SMBO, but I was using a different Operating System back then.

Current OS: Windows 7.

Can anyone think of a way to solve this?

Also, sorry for getting so far off topic from the original topic, but I can't really do much on SMBO myself with this issue persisting.

Nah, I had someone send me their .exe to replace mine with, so thats no longer an issue. Now the new issue is that the game seems to be stuck in an infinite level up loop, so you can't attack or pick up items. You can fix the attack part by toggling Turn Based and entering a battle, but you still can't pick up items. And "Level Up!" is displayed over your head until you level again.

Tried leveling to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't. Can someone restart the server or something?

"Failed to download patch 49." I deleted my old client and downloaded a new one. Still having these issues. Is anyone else?

patch.file is a file that I cannot open with any programs I have, as the extension is not recognized. Is this an error, or is this to prevent client hacking?

Patch 76 is failing to download. Is there a problem with it?
9  General / General Chat / SMBO Is In Need Of Life on: June 15, 2015, 06:08:35 am
So I've noticed lately that the server's been down alot, and there's no people on the forum. The server has fallen into disarray, and the forums are devoid of life. In short, SMBO has pretty much died.

I mean, I know that Kimimaru and Hydrakiller said that there will be no more updates for SMBO, but I also know that they wouldn't want their project to just roll over and give up like that either. Something must be done.

Something along the lines of new content, or player-driven events, or something. Anything to keep people coming back and get this place back to the thriving community it used to be.

Now I know that Kimimaru and Hydrakiller may be busy lately, but surely they can set aside some time to check on things here, update the game, maybe plan some events or something.

In short, we can't let the game or the community die. So what do you propose we do?

Well then. I'd comment, but it'd turn into an arguement, so no comment.

Well, hopefully we get special notes back soon at least.
14  General / General Chat / Swapnote loses Spotpass Feature on: November 01, 2013, 07:23:28 pm
Just got a notification from Nintendo on my 3DS. It reads the following:

"Nintendo has learned that some consumers, including minors, have been exchanging their friend codes on Internet Bulletin Boards and then using Swapnote (known as Nintendo Letter Box in other regions) to exchange offensive material. Nintendo has been investigating ways of preventing this and determined it is best to stop the Spotpass Feature of Swapnote because it allows direct exchange of photos and was actively misused."

Nintendo wants to provide a positive experience for all consumers and limit the risk of any inappropriate activity or misuse of a service. We feel it is important on this occasion to take this action.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience to the many consumers who have been using this service responsibly; however this decision was made considering the point that many minors also use this feature of Swapnote. Thank you for your understanding.

Nintendo will continue to work to ensure more consumers are aware of our Parental Control features, which allow parents to manage their children's experience on our systems. For more information, please visit here or select the Internet Browser button below:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/info/en_na/parents.jsp

*Service Stop Date: Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, 7 p.m. PT

*Service being stopped: Nintendo 3DS software Swapnote - Sending and Receiving notes using Spotpass.

Affected Regions: All regions where the service was offered.

Special Notes services are also stopped.

                                                           -Nintendo"

This makes me so upset at the consumer base that did abuse it. Personally, I used it to record scores to compete with friends. Now I can't do that. And not only did Nintendo stop Spotpass, they also ceased Special Notes. Now we can't get Nintento Staff to play as in our Mii Plaza games.

Ugh... I bloody hate this. Please, post here and tell me your thoughts. Because personally, I think Nintendo could have just added a "Disable Spotpass" option to Parental Controls to fix the problem.
