General / General Chat / Re: SMBO Is In Need Of Life

First hurdle to get over is the fact that only somewhere around 3 people, including staff members, actually checks the forum every day on average. We'd need more advertisement and we'd need to spread the word around.
On a side note, a lot of other similar-ish mario MMOs are currently being worked on and are down so it might be a good idea to try and get people here now.

I actually didn't know a thing about organizing the desktop like this to move all my games and stuff to the right side until I saw my cousin's desktop and gave it a go myself. Really helpful actually! SMBO is never leaving my taskbar. Too many fond memories

Picked up this idea from the ICU gigasoft forums. If you're feelin' it, just post your desktop for fun. Or comment on another person's desktop.

Well, you're trying to get into making a game with semi-advanced scripting concepts with, from what I'm guessing, fairly limited programming knowledge.
I would say you'd just have to build up the fundamentals of your programming a bit more, then spend some good thinking time trying to figure out how to do it. Matching frames to the actual object interaction in programming is IMO more tedious and annoying than difficult.

Updated!
Added a problem a lot of international players are having (or for you guys loving to play Japanese games on your computers). Make sure your system locale is set to English - United States. You can find this setting under "Region" in your control panel.
Nick said it has to do with packet data sending or something. I'm not really sure of the details, but after having some trouble with another eclipse MMO I figured that maybe it was my locale, gave it a try, and it worked.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can help you with this project at the moment since I'm in charge of mapping a pretty big new area in another eclipse game. After that I might help Nick with his own game as well, so I don't know, and I still have my Seven Sages mod to get back to at some point.
If you want tilesets, the best way is to rip them yourself if people won't give them to you. It's fairly tedious, but can be easily done with decent photoshop knowledge (or even microsoft paint, but photoshop is just a lot easier to use). Same goes for sprites.

I ran into this problem a few months ago, and was getting the same error for other MMOs using the same engine.
Make sure your system locale is set to English - United States. You CANNOT use applocale to do this; you have to change your whole system's locale. If this is a problem you'll have to use applocale to run the other applications aside from SMBO instead that can't be run in English- United States locale.
I'm gonna go update the general help thread with this fix now.
