Title: SMBO "Tip" video series
Post by: Penguin4478 on February 12, 2012, 03:11:12 pm
I'm currently making a youtube video series of me playing through SMBO the way I normally play. In these videos I talk about some SMBO stuff like battle systems and stats, as well as train using particular tactics in certain areas. I also show many secrets and complete most favors. This is called a tip video series because my strategies and secrets that are revealed can help newer players who feel challenged because they lack the veterans' knowledge of the game. People can just watch it to see how I bring a normal alt through the entire game, up to lvl 75. Of course, since I'm playing it the way I normally play I start by giving close call and 50k coins to my luigi XD

I've already recorded 10 episodes and they'll probably be up on youtube with links on this topic by tomorrow afternoon

I feel like it wouldn't quite be the same as showing how one trains a first character; starting from scratch is considerably different from starting with extra coins and such.  And it's not necessarily a slow process, either; I got to level 35 on BossBlitzer relatively quickly, and levelling further from there certainly wouldn't be bad either, were I to continue.

I have to agree with Jdaster on this one, however, if you were starting a Level 1 Character for a Playthrough Series, instructing players on what to do, and how to do it, then sure. Also, if you'd like, I'll make a Level 1 character to help you with this. I need something to do rather than waste away in Mushroom Plains XD

Fine by me, as long as you don't show the secret badge in the desert.

A fresh lv 1 character would probably be better, so I agree with jdaster and razz.

...There's a secret Badge in the Desert?

Yeah, there is. Not many people know though, and Penguin knows about it, so I requested that he doesn't show it.

Excluding kimi and hydra, I think not even 5 people know about that badge, but I'm not sure.

...And knowing Jdaster, he didn't put it in his Guide, did he.

He actually did, the badge's stats and name are in the guide, and that it is found in the desert. Nothing else.

And knowing Kimimaru, It's most likely an Enemy Drop, like Critical Boost.

If it was, it would have been found as soon as the desert was released, so it isn't an enemy drop. I'll leave the figuring out to you.

(Fun fact: I was the first person to find it, or to actually search for it.)

Any update on this, Penguin? I'm interested to see a few videos in the series.

Sorry.. Youtube is being very annoying. It always glitches out and fails to upload at 99%

Peng, if you're trying to upload videos to Youtube, try closing out all other running processes. It should speed it up and prevent the upload from crashing.
