Title: Penguin's Suggestion Database
Post by: Penguin4478 on November 28, 2012, 08:43:10 pm
This topic is a large list of all the items, special attacks, ideas, etc... that I will suggest. I may use names of previous items/ideas that I already suggested, but with different effects. Therefore, ignore those previously named ideas from other topics because this is where I'll post all of my suggestions into a single post.

-Badges-

-Some unique badges that will boost stache's effect-

Heal Flower: Boosts max FP by 10. Gives a 10% chance per special attack of recovering FP equal to 100% of current stache.
Double Heal: Boosts HP and FP by 5. Gives a 10% chance per basic or special attack of recovering both HP and FP by 30% of current stache.
Power Lift: Boosts Attack by 2. Gives a 15% chance per melee attack of increasing attack power by 2.25% per stache point for 20 seconds.
Defense Lift: Boosts Defense by 2. Gives a 5% chance per attack received of increasing defense by 2.5% per stache point for 25 seconds.
Block Panic: Increases base block chance by 2.5%. Whenever receiving 10 or more damage from a single attack, block chance is temporarily tripled for 15 seconds.
Critical Combo: Increases critical hit rate by 3% and critical hit damage by 15%. Whenever you deal a critical hit on an opponent, your critical hit chance goes up by 10%. This effect stacks until your attack fails to be a critical hit, at which critical hit rate resets to normal. Caps at 50% critical hit rate.
Pretty Lucky: Gives you a chance of revival whenever you die. This chance is equal to 1.2% per stache point. In PvP, it becomes 0.45% per stache point.
Mustache Might: The more stache you have, the stronger your attacks are! With this equipped, your base attack is booster by 1 per 3 stache.
Critical Curse: Increases critical hit chance by 2%. Critical hits deal 10% more damage, and temporarily debuff the opponent's attack, defense, speed and stache to 70% of their original value. Debuffs will not stack and last 13 seconds.
Critical Crisis: Decreases critical hit chance by 2%. With this badge equipped, your critical hits deal 15% more damage and ignore 80% of the opponent's total defense.
Critical Heal: Boosts attack and stache by 1 each. Whenever you land a critical hit on an opponent, you recover 70% of damage dealt in HP, and 65% of damage dealt in FP.

Boss drop badges. These were made because Card drops weren't as nearly rewarding as they could be, considering their drop rate.

Revive Power: Gives you a 30% chance of being revived at 10% max HP when dying. In PvP, you gain a 5% chance instead.
Flower Revival: If you have full FP, you will be revived when you die with an 80% chance, and your HP will be half of your max FP. Does not work in PvP.
Run Recharge: Doubles your SP regen rate, as well as increase your running speed by 10%
Lucky Day: Prevents you from being blocked or receiving critical hits, as well as increase both critical and block chance by 1.5%
Last Stand: 1/3 the damage you receive at 10 HP or less. Increases defense, speed, and stache by 1 each.

E. Gadd's Discovery Badges (Special badges that are very similar to M&L: SS E. Gadd Inventions. I've added a couple more ideas of my own)[These special badges can be obtained by exchanging rare/uncommon cards to E. Gadd at a certain place. Think of it like... ghosts in a picture frame from Luigi's Mansion, except with NPCs from SMBO]:

Greed Wallet: Whenever you pick up coins off of the floor, you get an extra 2 coins. Your sellback rate also increases by a set 5%, unless it's already capped by stache, at which case 30% will always remain the max.
Bonus Ring: Increases EXP gained by enemies by 4 per skill, as well as increasing coin drop rate by 10% of the original rate.
Excite Spring: Jump for twice as long, making those 2-jump cliffs and stairs easy to climb! No effect otherwise
Power Grip: Increases direct attack damage by 13%
Great Force: Deal 40% more damage, -6 defense
Cobalt Necktie: Increases critical hit damage by 15%, as well as double the crit chance bonus given by stache.
Gameboy Horror: Increases drop rate of all enemy items by 20% of their original rate.
Ghostly Vortex: Pulls enemies to you with a mystical force! All enemies in the room will instantly chase/aggro to you, no matter how far away or what their level is. Great for farming to get those last few levels, or for coins. Increases Attack, defense, speed, and stache by 1.
Economizer: Reduces FP cost of all special attacks by 1
Ghost Cloak: Transforms you into a ghost, turning you into a speedy, evasive little devil. +7 Speed, +7% block chance, -3 attack and defense.
Mystic Cloak: A cloak which, when equipped, teaches each character a set of new special attacks. See "special attacks" section for more details. Once unequipped, you will no longer know the set of special attacks.

Seasonal Badges

Christmas Starman: A special badge which makes your character flash rainbow colors similar to the invincibility starman gives Mario in the classic platformers. No other effects.

Clover Hat: Increases overall luck, as well as intensifying it! Blocks and crits are boosted by a set 7% each, and critical hits do 77% boosted damage rather than 50% boosted damage.

-Items-

E. Gadd's Knowledge are books like stache and flower secrets which teach you skills. They can be obtained via the same way E. Gadd's Discoveries are obtained.

Exposition of Power: Piece of paper with new discoveries on power. Passively doubles the attack stat bonus given by your mushroom badge.
Dictionary of Defense: Passive skill which enables you to sometimes receive 0-damage attacks rather than 1-damage attacks with a 25% chance.
Tome of Fitness: Passive skill which doubles HP and FP bonuses given by your currently equipped Mushroom and Flower Badges
Secrets of Skill: Passive skill which increases your critical hit/block chance. At level 15, +1%. Level 30, 2%. Level 45, 3%. Level 60, 4%. Level 75, 5%.
Encyclopedia of Efficiency: Teaches you how to train efficiently. You'll passively gain an additional 10% EXP from all enemies defeated.
Book of Perfection: The ultimate hidden knowledge on perfection. Passively increases attack, defense, speed, and stache by 1, as well as increasing HP/FP by 5 and critical/block chance by 2%. Extremely rare and difficult to obtain.
Agility Secrets: Passively reduces attack speed reduction by 35 milliseconds.

--Special Attacks--

-Mystic Cloak Specials-

Mario

Firebrand: Burns the opponent, dealing no initial damage but slowly deals a random 2-3 damage per second for 5 seconds. High range, moderate FP cost.

Searing Heat: Passively increases damage of all fireball special attacks' initial damage by 10%, and their range by 1. Also makes firebrand always hit 3-4 damage instead of 2-3 per second.

Luigi

Lucky Strike: A 1-range basic attack with 5 FP cost. Deals normal attack damage, but has a set 50% critical hit rate.

Super Stache: Passively increases effectiveness of stache. Critical hit chance boosts from stache increases by 20%, and critical hit damage increases by (1% * stache)

Wario

Power Strike: costs 4 FP, range 1. Deals 30% more damage than a normal attack.

Ranged Destruction: Passively increases range of all special attacks by 1.

Waluigi

Sharp Slashes: Passively makes Waluigi's "slash" special attacks pierce 20% of the opponent's defense

Pirahna Venom: If Waluigi's weapon is a pirahna-plant type weapon, this skill passively gives Waluigi a chance of poisoning the enemy with his basic attack. 15% chance per normal strike of dealing 2-3 damage per second for 3 seconds.

Yoshi

Flower Charge: Sacrifice 8 HP to recover 8 FP over 8 seconds.

Power Flower: Passively increases damage of all special attacks by 20%

Toad

Shroomy Syrup: Passive skill which reduces the opponent's speed and stache by 2 every single time they're hit by a basic/special attack. Lasts 5 seconds and can be stacked.

Mushroom Guard: Sacrifice 15 HP and 4 FP to put up a shield that will take 20 damage from all attacks. Will eventually fade after 20 seconds, otherwise fades when it has received 18+ damage. Also, any attacks dealing more than 20 damage will still not deal any damage to Toad, even if the shield is nearly broken.

-PvP Passives-
(These only apply in PvP. In normal areas, they have no effect unless otherwise stated)

Mario

Invigorating Fire: For every 4 HP Mario has lost in comparison to his max HP, his base attack increases by 1. Therefore, healing will in result slowly return his base attack back to normal.

Luigi

Lightning Strikes: Basic attacks that connect with the opponent suffer 1/10 normal attack speed reduction instead of the normal reduction. Special attacks that connect with the opponent (not including debuffs/buffs/heals (in which case are applied on yourself)) suffer only 1/2 attack speed reduction instead.

Wario

Bombs of Wrath: As Wario's HP and FP decrease, his bomb-related special attack power increases. For each cumulative amount of 7 points less than max HP/FP, the bomb attack power increases by 2.

Waluigi

Sinister Criticals: Truly sinister and sadistic critical hits are granted to Waluigi. With this, the less HP and FP the opponent has, the more effective and common waluigi's critical hits become. For each cumulative 5 points less from max HP and FP, Waluigi's critical hit damage increases by 6%, critical hit chance increases by 1.25%, and his critical hits also pierce an additional 10% defense.

Yoshi

Flower Eggs: Eggs which can be utilized to slowly recover FP over long periods of time! With this, Yoshi will recover 1 FP every 1.55 seconds. Flower eggs also passively boost Yoshi's attack and defense by 1.

Toad

Slow Shrooms: Toad slowly regenerates HP while being cannibalistic and eating slow shrooms! He regenerates 1 HP every 1.25 seconds. Also increases effectiveness of attack/defense swap, making it not only trade off your attack and defense for each other, but also increasing the new values by 10% until the buff ends.

More Special Attacks

Slippery Strikes: (Passive) Each hit on an enemy has a 10% chance of the enemy dropping any non-coin possible drop. In PvP, this makes a random piece of equipment automatically unequipped, but the chance is reduced to 7.5%

Luck Guard: Gives the user protection from being blocked or receiving critical hits for 45 seconds.

Special Shield: Puts up a shield which negates any special effects of skills (debuffs, for example) and reduces all damage received from special attacks by 25%. Lasts 20 seconds.

Special Seal: Seals the opponent's special attacks, disabling the foe from using them for 15 seconds. Also deals 70% normal damage, range 2.

Neutralize: Range 5 FP cost 1. Automatically resets any buffs on the opponent.

Full Guard: Sacrifice 10 HP to negate all damage and effects of the next attack received. While this is in effect, attack is reduced by 20% of its base amount, critical hits cannot be dealt, and the user cannot block. No FP Cost.

--Buffs/Nerfs--

Luck-based Buffs

Change the block/critical rate to become exponential. This will reinforce more investment into successful fighting characters with moderate amounts of stache/speed, but keep it at a decent level when people don't invest that much in either of the stats.

-Stache Buffs-

These are attempts to make stache a stat which boost every aspect of a player slightly. Original effects of crit boost and extra sellback/discounts are still applicable:

-Every 3 stache makes your damage output increase by 1
-Every 4 stache reduces damage you receive by 1
-Every stache point increases crit damage by an additional 1%, caps at 175% total crit damage.
-Every stache point decreases attack speed reduction by 1 millisecond
-Every stache point also increases frequency of item/coin drops by 1% of the initial drop value, caps at 140% initial drop rate.

--Miscellaneous--

-Make more quests, and have many quests give large chunks of experience. This will encourage more interactive gameplay without making the players spend too much time farming on EXP.

-Special attacks that are used on yourself only are useful because you can instantly heal yourself. However, I cannot heal party members with this, and I find that quite a problem. How about a customization to be able to set special attacks to either auto-self use or general use?

-New DodgeBill Maps-

How about more dodgebill maps? I've got a few general suggestions on making a few new arenas:

Standard Arena 1: This is the current DB arena
Standard Arena 2: Has the same base layout as SA1 (Standard Arena 1), but there are random holes placed in the floor, making navigation more difficult, but there are still no obstacles to hide behind.
Borderland Arena: Like SA1, except there's a block-hill which you can jump on that expands right through the middle and separates each section into 2 pieces. While on top of the elevated hill, you can hit all opponents, no matter their elevation, but only opponents on the same or higher elevation can hit you. Lower elevation players cannot.
Tower of Power (FFA only): a Single elevated hill with a 1-tile wide entrance. The strategy is whoever enters on this hill cannot be removed because of the elevation advantage, and that there's no way to dodge the bullets. Around this secluded tower with the hallway-based entrance is a normal field with no obstacles.
Bullet Halls: A very narrow map with a divider in between It's 3 tiles wide and in the middle of each side is a block which you can hide behind. It blocks bullets. In this map, bullets also travel 2x faster, to make a camp-and-snipe like strategy.

A few extra additions to DB as well:
-Free-for-all (FFA)! Wouldn't it be cool to remove team dividers and have a free for all fight? Tower of Power map is made specifically for free for all, and the winner isn't based off of survival, but rather kills. Respawning also gives you temporary 2.5 seconds invincibility to prevent spawn killing.
-Lucky Shots: When you throw a bullet bill, you have a chance of a multitude of effects which can occur. Some of these include increased bullet flying speed, multiple bills being thrown at one time, etc...
-Rare Bills: In each DB match, there is a single bill with a special effect, much like effects with lucky shots. It'll typically just be 2x or 3x speed.

New Area: Pipe Cliffs

An area that has many pipe-dwelling enemies, and is somewhat mountain based with many different pipe warps. It's not exactly a maze, but it's an area which promotes exploration because of the multiple different paths that the pipes branch to and join together at. A possible way to get here would be to take a pipe somewhere in the middle of SGC. The only way to reach the pipe, however, is to be able to smash the rocks blocking the way. At the top there is a mountain village of goombas and toads.

That's how we made the characters more unique. Some have specials that can be used on others and some don't.

Also, Flower Charge is overpowered because combined with Egg Restore it enables Yoshi to restore as much HP and FP as he wants. I suggest revising it.

I do like the cloak idea and it really shouldn't be hard to implement.

I nerfed flower charge to have a more equal conversion from HP to FP, as well as a wait time so that it can't be used in the heat of a fight or for fast healing. Also finished mystic cloak specials for toad.

Added some new stache-buffing suggestions
Also added some more badges

Why bother capping item drop rate growth?  That kind of heightens the issue of STACHE being pointless after a certain point.  Plus, if you've got 30+ STACHE, sure you'll get fairly noticeable bumps in item drop rate, but you'll also have 30 levels-worth less in the other stats.  Personally, I think something involving item drops is all that really needs to be added to STACHE's effects, not a potpourri of "this battle option becomes a tiny bit more viable" effects.  That and an eventual Flower analog to Heal Power would balance it quite nicely.

The new badges seem pretty good, though.

-Increased the cap of item drop rate improvement by 25% to a total 140%.
-By Jdaster64's suggestion, I have added a new badge, as well as another set of additional badges of my own ideas.

I'm not sure how you'd get Firebrand's default effect with Searing Heat's passive.

-Slight wording change on searing heat to reduce confusion.
-New set of special attacks added!

It still doesn't make much sense to me to have Firebrand do 2-3 damage when Searing Heat passively makes it always do 3 damage. Also, I believe Toad's PvP passive should do more than Yoshi's, considering FP can be used for more than HP.

-Nerfed regen rate of flower eggs by .05 seconds
-Buffed Slow shrooms by adding an increased effect to attack/defense swap, as well as reducing regeneration rate by .25 seconds
-Buffed searing heat to 3-4 damage instead of 3
-Added 1 new set of weapons! Couldn't figure out how to use the table option for the post, so I just had to make a temporary one.

Penguin, I believe there's still a misunderstanding. What I'm saying is I don't see how Searing Heat cannot affect Firebrand since it's a passive and both Specials are given to you when you wear the cloak. So as a result, Firebrand will never actually deal 2-3 damage; it will always deal 3-4 damage.

Also I see where you're coming from with the Stache buffs, but unfortunately it won't work. Here's why:

+3 Stache = +1 Attack
+4 Stache = +1 Defense
+1 Stache = 1% item/coin drops, +1% Crit damage, -1ms Attack Speed
+1 Speed = +5 (basically) max SP, increased run and block chance, and -3 (?) Attack Speed

Basically, the only thing Stache offers that the others (aside from the standard boosts) do not is increased critical hit damage, and increased item/coin drops. You can get more out of your stat points by simply increasing Attack, Defense, and Speed, and you can always equip the Pay Off Badge for a 100% increased coin drop rate.

Oh, derp, I forgot to include something about the mystic cloak. It'd be overpowered to lower levels when they use it, so you learn the first listed skill at level 1, and the second at level 40. Hopefully that clarifies some things.

Happy "No More Pennies Put Into Circulation In Canada" Day (Actually, that was 2/4/13)! Here are some updates I made which coincidentally came the day after, so I'll say they're in recognition of the Canadian Mint no longer producing pennies:

-Added something on exponential growth rate of blocks and critical hits
-Added something about more interactive gameplay by including more quests with higher EXP rewards for some of them.

Followed Shroomerson in the seasonal item ideas:

-Added 2 new seasonal badges, you should be able to figure out which season you get them in
-Added 1 new seasonal weapon which all characters can equip
