Isn't a glitch.. this is a common troubleshooting error that can be fixed through following download instructions...
1. Run the patcher
2. Run the "RUN THIS BEFORE YOU PLAY THE GAME" as a computer administrator
3. If you're using windows 7/vista then you need to run the special fix for that found in the downloads section of the forums.

Make sure an anti-virus or firewall isn't preventing SMBO from connecting. Disable your anti-virus, then run the file called RUN THIS BEFORE YOU PLAY THE GAME as an administrator. Do the same with the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Fix. After that, run the Super Mario Bros. Online Patcher, and then run the game afterwards. Please make sure you're running every single file as an administrator.

Your undescriptive requests for help make it hard for anyone to help you... could you possibly be a little more descriptive and tell us exactly what you did, possibly in a list? That would make it really easy to find out why it isn't working.

Da connection error is from his Anti-Virus programm. He got norton.

I guess so, because its the only thing which could be IT.

I'm not sure how you know he has Norton Anti-virus, but yes that would be causing the connection problems. Norton is a very stealthy anti-virus and is probably blocking Onchigo's connection to SMBO. Onchigo, please disable Norton Anti-virus completely and then try running Super Mario Bros. Online.

Onichigo, turn off the auto log in function because if you just barely made an account with no characters, the game sort of frezzes the log in screen, hope this helps!  And if it doesnt, your account maybe be the problem in the game so try making a new one.

But he said that his antivirus is Avast! so he must have been using SMBO in sandbox all this time because programs that run under sandbox can't bring out everything it offers.  I know because I have Avast! and I didn't run it under sandbox.

Okay, thats annoying. Maybe he changed his antivirus yet, he told me a while ago (3days or so) that he got norton.
