I have reserved the Sac Osage Electric Conference Room for our reunion.  It has a nice kitchen, chairs and tables, and a large table to serve food from.

The dates are Friday, August 3rd, Saturday August 4th, and Sunday August 5th. I truly hope these dates do not cause any conflicts for any of you.

Now I need you to email me what you would like for us to plan for the week end.  This is your reunion and I need some back feed from you. Some things I might suggest include:

1)  Friday evening--get acquainted.  We could possibly have a meal at "Grandma Place" in Orsis close to the homestead of CR Cox. It is a restaurant in a house across the road from the "little county store" where the Coxes would shop. The store is closed but hopefully I could get someone to open it for us.  It just recently sold the goods in the store and closed it. The Glade Springs One Room school house  is close by--Would have to check to see if any attended.

or 2) we could have the get together at the Conference Room with snacks. or 3)possibly one of the hotels at Nevada,MO. PLEASE give me suggestions on what you want to do Friday night--these are only ideas.!!!
Saturday:I do have Eldon Stewart scheduled for sometime Saturday not a set in stone time for him.  There are cemeteries to tour which I know some of you have indicated. What would you like for meals on Saturdays?? Let me know what type of foods and I can give you some choices

Sunday: Some choices 1) attend Glade Springs Missionary Baptist Church near where the homestead was.  There are very few who attend but this is the church where Charles R Cox was a deacon. There will only be Sunday school on that Sunday. 2) attend Hazel Dell Missionary Baptist where Ike Shurley (Aunt Juan--one of the sisters husband pastored and is buried)  I could see if we could have an old fashioned basket dinner after church. This is the church where I attend. (FYI about 2-3 yrs ago a huge tornado came through and hit the church and cementer,  Actually flattened the church and lots of headstones. The community came together and build back.

Somewhere I think we need time to do some family history with each other.

I will send hotels and rates later. There will be no hotels in Eldorado. You will have to stay in Nevada,MO.

PLEASE:
If any of you know of any family members who would like to attend invite them. You know cousins I don't and they will be most welcomed.

Looking forward to hearing from each of you.

Love,
Nancy

Dear Cox Cousins:

After several meetings with my cousins--the children of Chester Cox (my mothers’s brother) we have a tentative schedule for the weekend of our reunion. The Missouri cousins are looking forward to meeting and getting acquainted with our other cousins.

Please let Nancy Eaves or Joyce Cox know if anyone needs to be picked up at the airport in Kansas City or Springfield.
We will need RSVP by July 13, 2012. We will need an approximate number attending so we can plan for meals.

RSVP TO:
Nancy Eaves
nancy64744 at yahoo dot com (email)
OR
Joyce Cox
joycecox at sbcglobal dot net (email)

I have sent a hard copy of the reunion to persons I have adresses for and some of you will receive both.

If you know of any other Cox Cousins please invite them.

Looking forward to meeting you and your family,
Sincerely,
Nancy Eaves

Cox Reunion
2011

Meet and Greet:
Friday, August 3rd:
5:00 Arrive (if some of you want to arrive earlier please contact me)
6:00 Eat
Bring your family history
Saturday Augst 4th:
8:00 to 9:00 Breakfast at Sac Osage Electric Coop Conference Room
MO cousins has decided to prepare breakfast at Sac Osage. If anyone would like to come early and help we will start cooking at 7:00 a.m.
10:00-12:00 Tour Oldham Cementry and maybe Walnut Grove Cementry. We can see Glade Springs School House and Glade Springs Church. This is a good time to visit the "Old Home Place" as it is in this viciniy. I have asked the title company to trace the land that Charles R Cox owned and exactly the pieces of land. The barn is still standing. That should be interesting.
Depending on the weather the group can/will decide what to do for lunch.
6:00 Grandma’s Place
We have reserved Grandma’s Place for dinner. However, the owner has just found out she has cancer. Her daughters have committed to do the dinner for us--depending on the health of their mother. If we get to have dinner there they will open the store for us to see. It is basically empty but still there.
I have Eldon Stewart to speak at the dinner--however, he is having health problems and will do it if he is able. He has asked me to call him closer to the time.
If that does not work out I have Plan B in place.
Sunday Augst 4th
:For the people who would like to attend Hazel Dell Missionary Baptist Church:
This is the church were Ike Shurley ( Aunt Juan--one of the sister’s husband) pastored and is buried. I have some church history when Uncle Ike was pastor. I have also asked Bernice Estes who knew Uncle Ike to come and share with us.
10:00 Sunday school
11:00 Church
12:00 Lunch (may be a little later--people may want to visit a little after church)
Sam and I have decided to host the noon meal. It will be served at the Fair Grounds metal building. It will allow our cater to set up and there is more room if we want to share more family history.
