I requested a pic of this grave:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=55410872 & very nice gal named Nancy fulfilled the request. But she didn't stop there. While visiting her historical society she asked about him. So far she's sent me 2 articles done on him...complete with pics (in the articles).
It seems the La Grange school was started by Samuel on his land. And if it ever stops being used for educational purposes it's supposed to revert to his family.
Then Ms. Nancy found out there's a La Force cemetery not far from La Grange school. She said it was on private property. She's interested in taking a weed-eater & other things necessary to clean the place up & record it before it's too late. But they had to ask permission & permission's been denied. A little old lady owns it & strangers make her nervous.
But it seems this cemetery's already been visited & recorded. She thought between this & the fact that there's death certificates & some state burial will be at La Force cemetery...we could probably figure out who's in there.
But this doesn't stop our family's cemetery from further neglect. Humans make mistakes. And if I can't see those headstones for myself I'd like to see a really good pic of them. While trying to add this cemetery to Find a Grave I learned somebody else already has:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2208186&CScn=la+force&CScntry=4&CSst=26&CScnty=1445&. It's got 5 people in it & one of those people have a death certificate attached to them. And that death certificate states: burial in La Force cemetery. They also got Rhoda La Force Cagle in there.
The one who started it is Big John. Now he's another one that's interested in cleaning up or at least visiting & recording this cemetery. We've got at least 2 volunteers ready/willing/able to photograph & record our family's cemetery & they're being denied permission. It's a tad upsetting I must say.
Acc'd to Big John there's a law that states you can't stop family from visiting their family cemetery. But if having strangers show up at her door would make her nervous I don't want to know what having a sheriff show up at her door would do to her. I would much rather her family explain to her "hey granny you know that cemetery in your back yard...the family has discovered its existence & would like to clean it up & record it". Maybe she wouldn't be as nervous with her own family there with her keeping an eye on things while strangers were on her property. I mean what do they do when it's time to mow or if her fridge goes out or something? That's all I'm saying.
If there's any La Force's, LeForce's or LeFors' left in Jasper County MO or even these volunteers would you all please print this & get a copy to her family. If it was their family's cemetery they'd want the same thing for it. I'm positive if put to them in this way they'd surely understand.
